My definition
1. to comfort, uplift, help someone who feels crappy, feel better
2. something that everyone needs every once in a while

If you read between the lines, they are pretty much saying the same thing. They are meaning the same thing.

Words of encouragement. Pretty much the same thing. They are comforting words that help people realize that people care about them and let them know that they are not alone that everyone needs to hear every now and again.
